Fun Stuff

So I found a wealth of information here on how to customize blogs. There is so much fun stuff to do, but morning is going to come way too soon in this house, so nighty, nighty for now.

Under Construction

Please excuse the mess on my blog. Things will be back to "normal" as quickly as possible.

Where oh where oh where is Ellie?

Ellie, Little Miss' prized possession! The gift from Memere and Pepere that started off like any other gift has since turned into the coveted best friend at bedtime. When I walked into the house tonight it did indeed sound as though someone was missing her best friend. Ellie was nowhere to be found.

One unhappy Little Miss + one Unhappy Daddy = one Mommy on a mission.

The key in attempting to locate something an almost 3 year old has misplaced is to get down to the appropriate height! Soon after I began crawling on my hands and knees, Smelly Ellie was located on a chair under the dining room table. PHEW!!! What a reunion it was; unfortunately I didn't have my camera ready, but I'm tempted to play out the scenario again tomorrow night just to capture the expression on Little Miss' face. Old friends reunited at last!

PS E offered one of his animals (he sleeps with about 15 now) to Little Miss; how sweet is that! I was very proud of him for being so KIND (being kind is Mommy's #1 rule) Little Miss refused his offer.

PSS Notice the centered text; don't ask how I did it, I have no idea!

Evidence of Faith

When you're feeling like you're having a bad day, read this heart wrenching story and see the unbelievable trust one couple has in their God. If this isn't an Evidence of Faith, what is?

Big Decisions...

My boy is turning 6....ARGH!!!! I'm going to try to savor the last 2 weeks of his 5th year.

There was (and actually still is) a big decision to be made in our house. What kind of party are we going to have? Pirates, Lego Star Wars, Rock and Roll? Well, I had to do the Rock and Roll invites because the pictures were so darn cute, but E is not so sure he wants to carry over the theme to his party. I'm going to try to convince him otherwise. Usually by this stage in the game, I have everything figured out, but I'm not as prepared this time. It's not as easy to plan parties with opinions from the guest of honor.

He is sooooo excited about his birthday and even put the invitations in the envelopes tonight; I think he's making sure they get mailed. I've threatened not to a couple times this week because of his misbehaving.

On another note, I still cannot figure out what has gone wrong with my ability to center the text on the blog...it's driving me crazy! Is it bothering anyone else?

Surprise!

Sunday we had a surprise 70th birthday party for my father-in-law. Everything was great and Pai was sooooo happy!
The Portuguese food was really good and we had a lot of it! We were able to enjoy the leftovers for a couple days too!
Little Miss was not feeling well, so she was not her usual life of the party. Wishing you many more years of health and happiness Pai!

"Foodie Cups"

AKA Hoodsie Cups to most people. I'm thinking that ice cream is definitely one of Little Miss' favorites if not THE favorite! She gets so darn excited about eating a Hoodsie cup and dances all the way to her chair.

"Mom, can I please have a Foodie Cup?"
"Ok, go ahead"
(giggles in delight)"I'll get a spoon!" She can't get it fast enough.

We should all get excited about the little things in every day life.

In the blink of an eye

Once upon a time, all I wanted was to be a mom and it seemed to take me so long to get there. Now as the kids' birthdays approach I think how fast the first 6 years of motherhood have flown by. I am trying my best not to get sad about how grown up the kids are getting and focus on how every new stage has something fun to look forward to, but it's hard not to get a little sad looking at these pictures.

These are the photos we used on Little Miss' and E's birth announcements.

So far being a mother has been a combination of GOOD, bad, and sometimes ugly, but, I would never change places with anyone. Being a mom to my two kids is the greatest job on Earth! ...and I'm trying not to Blink!

PS Something funky is going on with my postings...sorry if things are looking a little off centered...have to figure that out...it's bugging me!

A girl and her tutu

Although Little Miss did not appear to be overly excited about receiving a couple of tutus (is that the correct spelling? it looks kind of funny)for Christmas, things have changed! She is now a "ballerina" (to put it in her own words).

One Man's Trash...

...was my treasure. You won't be seeing me drinking any of the expensive liquor that came in this box, but I can definitely try to make good use of the trash (I mean packaging).

A little paint, paper, ribbon, mod podge and flowers and "ta da", a new caddy for some of my craft supplies. It's a perfect inexpensive addition to my space. Thanks George! (Victor's boss who received this gift for Christmas)

I also left the Christmas party with some great cigar boxes...can't wait to transform those too. Who knew there would be such treasures!

Fluffy White Stuff

More snow means more outdoor fun, for at least some of us that is. Mr. E and I ventured outdoors for some sledding and snow angels. Little Miss is not all that fond of snow (I think I did mention this before). Her dislike, however, has turned into complete fear. She REFUSES to even step in a flake of the fluffy white stuff. I wonder how long it will take her to get over this. Hopefully not too long, considering she is a New England girl. Daddy doesn't mind keeping her company; he is not a big fan either!

Here is Mr. E's first official snow angel; he was quite proud that his came out better than mommy's. I do agree!

The hill in our backyard is the perfect size for sledding down AND climbing back up.

A little screaming adds to the excitement!
