More Birds

Sorry if you're not all that into the birds. I am a little into it; I think it's pretty much the coolest thing ever! Well, maybe not ever, but cool enough to make the blog several times. Enjoy.

The Storyteller

E is definitely a Storyteller...some true, some, not so much. But...whatever kind of story he is telling, he is always animated. Wish I could remember what he was telling me in these pictures.

PS If you saw this post, you'll be happy to know the eggs have hatched. Pictures coming soon to a blog near you.

Good, ole fashioned fun...

The kids and I went to my nephew's birthday party over the weekend. It was at Ward's Berry Farm; it's a quaint little farm. We went on a hay ride, visited the farm animals and played on the playground. My favorite is the terribly noisy horse swings...there is something nostalgic about the ear piercing squeaks they make as the kids swing on them.
This was seconds before E banged his chin and got off the swing with a bit of discomfort, seconds after Mommy warned him he was going to get hurt. Once again proving our motto with E, "If it can happen, it will..." Lucky for all of us, he is very resilient.

Little Miss even learned how to pump the swing herself.

Happy 60th Birthday Mom!

Wishing you a birthday filled with love, peace and many blessings!

You deserve it.

Siblings

It seems like in recent weeks, my kids have been on each others' last nerve and therefore getting on mine :) This past weekend they seemed to have made a little transformation. Maybe my #1 Rule to ALWAYS BE KIND is finally sinking in. I know siblings argue and fight and in many ways it is a sign of a healthy relationship, however, it makes my heart happy to see moments when Little Miss and E really show how they love each other.

I don't believe an accident of birth makes people sisters or brothers. It makes them siblings, gives them mutuality of parentage. Sisterhood and brotherhood is a condition people have to work at.

Friday!

They look like I feel... just a little tired and warn-out.

Photo is circa 2009

It's been a rough week, but tomorrow is Friday!!

This time last year...

E was playing soccer, but looked more like a little boy...

who didn't have as much self-confidence.

Little Miss had bangs...

....and a cheesy grin.

Spring Visitors

We have guests... unannounced visitors have made a nest in the flower box of the kids' swingset fort. I'm thinking these 5 robin's eggs will probably be abandoned. E noticed them today when he was playing, but who knows how long they've been there. He was sooooo excited, as was I. It's amazing to see nature so up close.

Two years ago, we had robins make their nest in our hanging flower basket. We were able to see the entire process from eggs to baby birds flying away on their own. We had success! Everyone kept warning us that many times the babies don't all survive, but ours did and I'll take that as a personal accomplishment.

Yes, I know, I had nothing to do with it.

Random

I don't really have all that much to say, so here are a few pictures from the weekend. I have a lot more pictures of Little Miss these days, as she is a bit more cooperative than her brother.

Here is E at T-ball; he has quite a swing this year! He was cranking them in the backyard the other day.

Overgrown

It's been awhile since I've walked around my yard; at least a couple of weeks. With the lousy weather and full schedule, I guess I haven't been able to get any fresh air. When I finally did make it outside today, I couldn't believe how everything had grown (must be all the rain we've been having), including the WEEDS! Usually we host Mother's Day and that "encourages" us to get the yard all spiffy...not this year, my brother and sister-in-law hosted at their house. I hope this weekend brings us some weed picking weather, because we have lots of work to do.
Spring is a favorite season of mine because it's so exciting for me to see all the gardens fill in and the flowers bloom. All the hard work and we're starting to reap the benefits! I love being surrounded by gardens of flowers (even if they do have a few or a lot of weeds).

Hmm, in that case, maybe I should leave the weeds...

Moments

We had so many great moments this past weekend. My life is full...
Little Miss brought me into the house at my brothers' to show me the picture of me that she drew...priceless! (and I even have blue hair)
